Description

Eight sided silver coloured medal. A raised figure of a speed skater is on the front in action, on the upper half. US insignia in center right side. There are two circle rings at the top, attached to a red, white and blue striped ribbon with a gold pin attached. Inscription across the front: "CHICAGO DAILY NEWS 1934 WESTERN OPEN INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP". Engraving on back: "2ND CLASS A 1 1/2 MILE INTERNATIONAL RELAY".

The rest of the woman in the photograph are unknown. In the 1932 Olympics, Lela Brooks won all her heats but only managed to place fourth. String reinforced with rubber crosses over back of guard held on by staples.
