Description

Eight sided silver coloured medal. A raised figure of a speed skater is on the front in action, on the upper half. US insignia in center right side. There are two circle rings at the top, attached to a red, white and blue striped ribbon with a gold pin attached. Inscription across the front: "CHICAGO DAILY NEWS 1934 WESTERN OPEN INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP". Engraving on back: "2ND CLASS A 1 1/2 MILE INTERNATIONAL RELAY".

The rest of the woman in the photograph are unknown.  In the 1932 Olympics, Lela Brooks won all her heats but only  managed to place fourth.
