This is a colour lithographic composite print of several small sketches surrounding a large sketch located in the center. All the sketches are of events or places relating to the rowing competition between Hanlan and Courtney. In the center a large sketch shows crowds gathering near the shore to watch the race. Two rowers are on the water having just left the starting line. Above this sketch is map of the waterway where the event has taken place. Below the center sketch is a depiction of Hanlan sitting in his rowing shell. In the top left and top right corners there are sketches of the headquarters of Hanlan and Courtney.
