It is between an article from Sunday, March 6th, 1932, entitled "McNamara-Peden Win 52nd Six-Day Bike Race: First New York Grind To Put Chapman In Red". The bookmark is in reference to this article. There is a bookmark in between three articles, "Desire to See 1928 Olympics Started Peden on Bike Career", "Peden Relates His Impressions During Six-Day Bike Race" & "Peden, Partner of Injured Biker, Saw No Luck in Team's Jerseys." Another bookmark holds the page between seven articles covering various races and stats for Peden's races, along with a French article on the 6-Day Race. A fourth bookmark marks the page between an article from the "Victoria Daily Times", Wednesday, August 3, 1932, entitled, "Bill Peden Arrives Homes; Off to Train Olympic Bike Squad". On the other page is a article entitled, "Local Bike Riders Still Confident of Olympic Victory" along with a black and white photo of a banquet attended by the Olympic cyclists and friends in Los Angeles after the races. The final bookmark is between an article from the Vancouver Province from June, 12, 1932, entitled, "Torchy the Pedalling Scorcher". On the other page is a typewriter typed poem about Torchy simply entitled, "Torchy Peden", it was written by J.C.B. It appears from the use of several bookmarks and notes written on articles throughout the scrapbook that this may have been used by someone for research purposes. |
