Accounting and Payroll Administrator (Part-time)

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Finance and Administration, the Accounting and Payroll Administrator will be an organized individual who is reliable and works well in a small office structure. We are looking for someone who would enjoy working at Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame on a part-time (15-20 hours per week) basis and available to work flexible hours on weekends, holidays or evenings as required.

Key Responsibilities/Deliverables

  • Process daily transactions from visitors, education programs and the retail store.
  • Prepare and file customer invoices.
  • Process supplier invoices, expense claims and cheque requisitions.
  • Prepare and file organizational cheques.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll with external service provider including journal entry preparation and internal reconciliation.
  • Maintain attendance records including vacation and overtime summaries.
  • Other duties as requested by the Director.


  • University or college degree in related fields or equivalent experience.
  • Past work experience will be considered.


  • Accurate data entry skills with a high degree of attention to detail while consistently delivering high quality work.
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks, Microsoft Excel and Ceridian PowerPay would be an asset.
  • Has a well-rounded personality with a strong sense for professionalism.
  • Ability to speak and communicate clearly and confidently with CSHoF employees.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Detail oriented and organized.
  • Enthusiasm with a willingness to be part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet specific deadlines.

Rate of Pay: $25.00/hour.

Facility Rental Event Hosts (Casual/Part-time)

Position Summary

Reporting to the Development Coordinator, the Facility Rental Event Hosts will be outgoing, energetic and reliable. We are looking for people who enjoy working at events at Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame on a part-time/casual basis.

Key Responsibilities/Deliverables

  • On-site events for 3 - 6 hours with the possibility for late evenings, depending on the event.
  • Assist catering with the set-up of an event as required.
  • Properly handle and set-up required AV equipment and furniture.
  • Meet and greet people.
  • Inform guests about Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.
  • Other duties as required.


Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or be currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution. Related experience strongly encouraged.


  • Strong understanding of technology and ability to trouble shoot basic AV concerns.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Experience with event hosting and special events an asset.
  • Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Outgoing, approachable, patient and friendly.
  • Flexibility to handle last minute changes to event.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to move and lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
  • Vehicle is an asset.

Rate of Pay: $13.00/hour

Digital Marketing & Communications Internship

Term: March-May, 2017

Reporting to the Manager of Marketing and Communications, the Digital Marketing & Communications Assistant will assist with, implement and execute Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame’s Social Media plan for 2017. The assistant will create a Social Media plan for the 2017 calendar year which includes Facebook, Twitter and Instagram campaigns as well as content related to new exhibit launches. The assistant will also develop online content for sportshall.ca related to new exhibits, artefacts and Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame events.

Assistant will:

  • Create an editorial calendar for 2017 and 2018 which includes major local, national and international sporting events linked to 612 current Honoured Members and the 66 sports represented
  • Write and edit website and social media content
  • Assist in creating social media and promotional campaigns and bring them to life
  • Review social media and website analytics
  • Attend regular meetings with the Manager of Marketing and Communications to ensure that the content and materials being developed meet the guidelines for the project


  • Strong written communication and editing skills.
  • Able to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in Social Media usage, MS Office and Adobe (InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop).
  • Second language is an asset.
  • Students will be required to provide or obtain a valid vulnerable sector police check.
