Story

Hilda Ranscombe is one of hockey's greatest players and was considered by many to rival her male counterparts that went on to play in the National Hockey League.  Hilda led the Preston Rivulettes throughout the 1930’s, a baseball team that formed a hockey team and lost just 2 of 350 games played until WWII brought an end to their dynasty.

Her accomplishments include leading the Rivulettes to 10 Ontario Championships and six Dominion Championships.  The attention she gained was credited with women's hockey becoming popular across the country.   Unfortunately statistics were never kept to record her amazing feats, but true to her values around teamwork, when asked about her hockey accomplishments, Hilda would only say, “The whole team was the most valuable player.” Upon her retirement she became a coach.
