Canada's Sports Hall of Fame Mourns the Loss of Honoured Member, Johnny Bower (1924-2017)
Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame mourns the loss of Honoured Member, Johnny Bower, inducted in 1999 as a four-time Stanley Cup Champion, who passed away on December 26, 2017. Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame’s mission is to share the stories of our Honoured Members so that their legacy is never forgotten. The Canadian flag at Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, located at WinSport's Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, will fly at half-mast in his honour.
Johnny Bower spent twelve years as the number one goaltender for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was pivotal in securing four Stanley Cup victories and was a true ambassador for the team and for the sport. Johnny received the highest sporting honour in Canada when he was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1999, as an Athlete for Ice Hockey. His legacy will live on for generations to come.
