The Order of Sport, Canada’s highest sporting honour is a national level award established by Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame, a nationally accredited sports museum in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Each year, a class of the country’s most influential and inspiring Athletes, Builders, and Trailblazers receive the award, marking induction into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame. As part of the induction process, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame has interviewed over 230 Order of Sport Recipients.

Library shot lists available include many of the Hall of Famers listed here, including Nancy Greene Raine, Mark Tewksbury, Chief Wilton Littlechild and Herb Carnegie. The content focuses on Order of Sport recipients telling their own stories, the life lessons they have learned through sport, and the core values that defined their journey. Canadians of all ages and backgrounds can benefit from access to these stories.

A key component of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame’s digital strategy, this library provides opportunities to share content across the country. Future additions (2023-2024) to the library include formalized access to the museum’s educational resources; educational resources include webisodes, mini-documentaries, and past awareness campaigns.

Contact Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame for more information on how to obtain access to these incredible videos.

Funding for cataloguing of this video library was provided in part by the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Museum Assistance Program, Digital Access to Heritage Component.
