Ted Nolan led his hometown Soo Greyhounds to three straight Memorial Cup appearances, winning the trophy in 1993. Ted made the step up to the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres shortly after, and in 1997 he was named the NHL’s coach of the year.

Ted Nolan was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 1978. Though his playing days were cut short by injury, his sons Brandon and Jordan both made it to the NHL. In 2013, they created the 3NOLANS First Nation Hockey School.
